Wet Weather Overflow Screens Delivered to Porirua Wastewater Retention Project
September 3, 2024
Hydroflux recently supplied several stormwater overflow screens as part of the Porirua Wastewater Retention Tank Project. The new facility will manage peak flows during extreme wet weather events – the new concrete 7000kL capacity retention tank will provide retention prior to gradual release of stormwater/wastewater to the sewer network at a flow that the wastewater treatment plant can manage.
Project Highlights
- 70m x 20m x 7m concrete storage tank
- Elimination of overflows during extreme wet weather, leading to a cleaner harbour and coastal waters
- Design, supply and delivery of two (2) HUBER RoK1/500 storm screens rated at 840 L/s each
- Custom adjustable height to manage variable weir levels
Technology Highlights
- High efficiency 6mm 2-dimensional screening
- Low headloss design
- Easy to retrofit to existing infrastructure (a number of diameters and lengths are available)
- Proven in 5000+ installations around the world with several in New Zealand
- All stainless-steel construction
Applications
- Inlet Works Overflows
- River Discharges
- Stormwater Tanks
HUBER RoK1 is a horizontal storm screen that is installed downstream of an overflow weir. The screen uses two dimensional perforations in a U section design that provides high screening efficiency – a shafted screw with the U trough is used to transport screenings to the discharge point.
